- The storage lot generally has to be within 10 miles of where you were towed (15 miles in counties under 500,000 people).
- Once you ask for the car, the lot has to release it within 1 hour, and you can inspect it before you accept it.
- If you catch the tow before the truck leaves, they have to give the car back for no more than half the posted towing rate.
- There's no storage fee if the car was held less than 6 hours, and the lot must take at least two kinds of payment (for example cash and a card).
